    Wonderful! Everyone should read the Diaries of Lewis and Clark (edited by Bernard deVoto). Stephen Ambrose (Undaunted Courage) tried to outdo them, but the original is even better reading. And now, Simon, you are breathing fresh life into this core saga of the American story and making it real once more. What a treat!

    Cara and I have just listened and enjoyed your postcard on the Gateway with it's reference to Lewis and Clark, and of course it reminds me of my husband's enthusiasm for Alexander Mackenzie who's first crossing of the North America continent inspired Jefferson to send out the military expedition to follow in Mackenzie's footsteps, well not quite.
